Meet Peggy Chappell

I left my 47-year career just this past spring 2022. Having worked with children and families as an educator and a child and family therapist, the discovery of surface pattern design and Bonnie Christine has opened a new world and the next chapter in life. 

I had taken a class at my local art center on block printing on textiles. After becoming totally engaged in the process of printing yardage with repeating blocks, I was eager to find a way to streamline and expand this process as well as someday make sales. When I happened upon Bonnie's free 5-day workshop, I knew I had found the place for me. 

I took Immersion in 2021 and 2022. The technology was so challenging as someone who never used social media and never heard of Adobe Illustrator. Were it not for the amazing support and the clarity of teaching, I would not have persisted. I love that Bonnie starts with mindset. I thought she was reading my mind with all the negative thoughts and doubts I had (I was about to turn 70, very anxious and uncertain of my technical ability, and wondering if I had anything to offer). 

The courses and community continually call me to honor my creativity, to believe my voice is needed, and to know that even my very slow progress is progress. It sometimes feels like a very slow steep climb up the mountain, but each time I think I am not sure I can conquer the next hurdle or perhaps I lose my way, there is some lesson or some person there to answer the questions, cheer me on, and remind me I am meant to reach the top.
