Meet Mandy McMaster
When taking Immersion I felt nurtured and supported by the community and Bonnie's team. I have always been fascinated with art and patterns on products but did not know how to break into that industry. When I first heard about Immersion, I immediately knew that it was the answer I was looking for and it re-ignited my desire to design patterns.
I was initially hesitant to take Immersion because I was already working 50+ hours in a marketing position and didn't think I would have time for it. I was also pregnant at the time. I decided to not join in 2021 and made a commitment to join the following year. After the birth of my daughter in September 2021, my entire world changed and I wanted her to know there is more to life than a corporate job.
After signing up, I was impressed with the setup of the modules and how supportive the community was. I made lasting friendships in my study group and we continue to support each other daily. In under a year, I completed the Immersion course and started working full-time on building a surface pattern design business. I launched my Spoonflower shop, completed my first collection, and am in the process of creating my second.
I truly consider myself an artist and surface pattern designer now. I am looking forward to pitching and getting licensed this year and continuing to work on the print-on-demand side of the business. I would encourage anyone interested in surface design to take Immersion. It was a life-changing experience that allowed me to move towards the life that I want and that I want to share with my daughter.
