Meet Michiyo Wrachford
Before diving into the world of Surface Pattern Design, I was juggling the roles as a military husband's wife, a mom, and a part-time worker, adapting to new surroundings due to our frequent moves. Curiosity led me to the Immersion Course, a decision prompted by a simple desire – to understand what Surface Pattern Design was all about.
Admittedly, worries lingered before the course. Questions about being too old for something new and the uncertainty of this career shift nagged at me. However, post-Immersion, my perspective underwent a profound transformation. The passion for being a surface designer infused a daily change in my routine. Now, waking up with excitement and a sense of purpose, I find myself appreciating the extraordinary in the ordinary to seek inspiration and developing an insatiable thirst for learning, especially in the realm of surface design.
The Immersion Course turned out to be a game-changer, offering not just technical know-how but a comprehensive toolkit, from mastering Adobe software to honing marketing and social networking skills. One cherished skill? Connecting with fellow artists and navigating Adobe like a pro.
After Immersion, my achievements include licensing my designs with a fabric company, setting up shop on a POD website, and earning some income. I've crafted numerous design collections along the way.
To those with hesitation about the Immersion Course, worry not. If someone like me, whose English is a second language, with no prior software or art experience, and well into their late 40s, can thrive, so can you.
Looking ahead, I'm eager to pitch more, exploring new horizons in the ever-evolving world of surface pattern design. Can't wait to see what's next!
