Meet Lisa Blake
I was familiar with Illustrator and used the program for years, so I was a little bit worried about taking Immersion and it being a waste of my money. I'm happy to say, I learned a lot of things I didn't know.
Prior to my journey with surface pattern design, I was living in the NW Suburbs of Chicago and working full-time as a program manager for a manufacturer's trade association. I had worked at this company for 17 years. I created art and photography in my spare time, took some classes, and submitted my photography to a monthly in-person show. My life drastically changed in 2016 when I moved halfway across the country for love. It was the perfect time for me to go full-time with my art, something I had always daydreamed about doing.
Between now and then I've uploaded my art and photography to POD sites like Society6, Fine Art America, Art of Where, and Spoonflower. I create and sell greeting cards, art prints, accessories, and hand-painted ornaments on my own website and on Etsy. I've also dabbled in selling my products wholesale. I'm looking forward to creating a business and life that is more stress-free, and I think pattern design is one of the ways I'll achieve it.
