Meet Kate Kellogg
I'm a 50-year-old, retired acupuncturist, mother, and wife, living in Denver, CO. My journey to Bonnie's Immersion workshop is long and twisted, but I'm so happy I finally found my way.
In 2017, my family rented out our house in Denver and moved to Kerala, India for the year. I decided to do a week-long artist residency at a block printing studio in Jaipur, India. The studio in Jaipur had me send along one of my colored pencil drawings beforehand and had already carved my design into wooden blocks before my arrival. As my teacher used the blocks to print my design onto the crisp white cotton, I couldn't believe how beautifully my drawing translated through these hand-carved blocks, onto the fabric. A seed was planted! It seemed like magic but it is actually an art form that has been practiced exactly the same way for hundreds of years. I was obsessed!
When I returned to Denver I registered Cardamom Designs as an LLC and slowly started selling my creations. Each year, I returned to work with the artisans in Jaipur, for several weeks, to create samples for my new designs. In 2021, I retired from my acupuncture practice in Denver to work full-time on Cardamom Designs.
It was with the best intentions in 2021 that I purchased Bonnie's Immersion Course with the goal of splitting my time between the business and working towards learning the skills I needed to license my designs. Over the last 2 years of focusing full-time on building a brand and running a full-time product-based business, I've come to realize that the part that is most fulfilling is the art and design work that I create. In 2023, I'm committed to completing the Immersion program so I can learn the skills necessary to become a surface pattern designer who licenses her art.
