Meet Holly Clinton
I joined the Immersion course in 2019 with little knowledge of the surface design world but an eagerness to find out. Bonnie made the introduction seamless. I remember being drawn to her confidence and felt reassured by her gentle encouragement that there was a place for us all in the industry.
After completing the course I took some time away from designing to care of my sister who was fighting breast cancer. Her passing in September 2020 took an enormous toll on me mentally and physically and found I gravitated back to drawing as a way to stop the world from spinning for a while. I eventually bought an iPad Pro and now spend hours scribbling and experimenting with colours and shapes.
Art and creativity has been an incredibly important part of my grieving process. I’m grateful to have the experience and knowledge from the Immersion course to draw on as a foundation for future work.
Whilst I’m still finding my feet in the industry, I have successfully opened an Etsy store, Society6 platform and have fabric for sale on Spoonflower.
Whenever I need a boost, I go back to the front page of my Immersion course notes and find a quote by Bonnie, “it only takes ten seconds of courage.”
