Meet Grace Hoddle

I had dreamt for years about creating patterns and seeing them on products, but I was working in a completely different field, costume for theatre. So I spent my days sewing at a machine or by hand with very little use of a computer! 

When I joined Bonnie Christine’s Immersion course, I opened Adobe Illustrator for the very first time! And with practice, I got the hang of it! Now, it feels second nature just like the way I used to use a needle and thread! 

Two years on and my style has developed immensely. Last summer I signed my first contract and held local pop-up shops with products I had made with my own fabrics as well as products I’d printed like notebooks and mugs. I have designs with print-on-demand sites, a website, and a portfolio that I am proud of and confident enough to pitch regularly. Immersion changed my world, it’s a lot of work but the rewards are huge. I’m looking forward to what 2023 has to bring. Hopefully, my second contract is waiting around the corner!
