Meet Gabriela

I discovered Bonnie through a friend who recommended her Skillshare class while I was studying interior design. I used Bonnie’s class to learn new skills for Uni projects, and it was a success. Since then I studied and research anything about surface pattern design and in 2020 while working in a warehouse I decided to join the Immersion Course. My only worry was the financial situation but I couldn’t keep delaying it. I knew from the bottom of my heart that I want to become a surface pattern designer and took the risk which was the best decision I’ve ever done for myself.

The most important thing I’ve learned from Immersion is that we can Dream and the Dreams come true. The Dreams are real and possible and they are not only in our head ones we put them on paper and read them out loud. 

I’ve learned the importance of show my work and also how to receive feedback and use it to improve my work. I’ve learned how to organise my work, how to find inspiration around me and how to use it in my work. I love creating a colour pallet from my own photos. I’ve also learned that any mark, any texture and any drawing or painting can become a beautiful pattern.  

Taking immersion course made my realise how important the community is, I’ve made friends and I know that whenever I find myself in difficulty regarding any aspects of surface pattern design I can count on this community. 

Since completing the Immersion I sold over 40 patterns for a wallpaper company. It may sound small for some but for me is reassuring that I’m on the right path. And even if I’m not able to quit my 9-6 job yet I’m not giving up. I’m still working every day to accomplish my dream.  

This course is perfect for anyone who likes drawing, painting, doodling or making marks out of anything. 

I’ve learned from Immersion in 6 weeks more than I have learned 4 years at Uni. This course changes minds and lives.
