Meet Cheryl Shappee

I have always been an avid doodler and creative explorer. I admired the beautiful covers of journals and could look at scrapbook paper for hours. I always wondered how in the world these things got made. So when I found surface pattern design with Bonnie I was in awe! 

I joined Immersion in 2021 and took it again in 2022, and I haven't looked back since. It just keeps getting better and better. My passion and creativity keep expanding and the possibilities feel endless. I was 51 when I first took Immersion and I had never used Adobe Illustrator. So allow me to reassure you that Bonnie will walk you through every step of both the technical and creative process. Every question you have will be answered throughout Immersion and beyond.

In the last year, I have had so many wins! I created my website, got my LLC, created collections, printed my fabric, and created Christmas wrapping paper. I look forward to creating my own line of textiles and wallpaper over the next few years. But one of the best parts of Immersion was meeting my design sisters that I have been meeting with weekly for almost two years! Having the support of these women means the world to me. It is so fun going on the journey with them.

Don't allow your age or lack of technical skills to hold you back. Jump in and take it one day at a time. Designing nourishes me so much. I can't believe I didn't find it earlier, but I am so grateful to have it now!
